Client
Overview
Vytalize, a growing and innovative Accountable CareOrganization (ACO), raised a $50M Series B funding round to improve patient care by leveraging advanced data systems. To support this growth, they needed to assess and upgrade their data architecture to efficiently handle larger volumes of patient and claims data.
Challenge
As Vytalize expanded, it faced challenges with its existingdata infrastructure, which struggled to support the increased data from new sources like Medicare claims, EMR/EHR systems, and third-party health data providers. The primary issues included:
Data integration complexity
Vytalize needed to integrate data from multiple sources, such as Medicare, EHR feeds, and third-party data providers.
Manual data processes
SQL and ETL jobswere heavily manual, leading to delays and potential errors.
Lack of scalability
Their existing architecture could not quickly scale with the expected data influx.
Security and compliance
Ensuring securaccess to Protected Health Information (PHI) and compliance with HIPAAstandards was critical.
SOLUTIONS
Pi Tech extensively assessed Vytalize’s current dataarchitecture, identifying gaps and inefficiencies. The solution included:
Comprehensive data architecture review
Pi Tech assessed incoming and outgoing data feeds, including Medicare claims,EMR/EHR systems, and data from third-party providers. This included designing astrategy to manage future data sources.
Serverless proof of concept
Pi Techimplemented a serverless architecture in AWS to process large volumes ofdata with improved efficiency, allowing Vytalize to scale its operations asneeded.
New data pipeline
Pi Tech designed androlled out a new data pipeline that significantly reduced the need formanual SQL and ETL processes, automating data ingestion and reporting acrossmultiple systems.
CI/CD Pipeline and Services ArchitectureReview
Pi Tech conducted a detailed review of Vytalize’s ContinuousIntegration and Delivery (CI/CD) processes and service architecture, recommending improvements to streamline deployment and integration workflows.
Data security and compliance
A securityplan was developed to manage PHI access, implement de-identified datasets fordevelopment, and create a disaster recovery plan to ensure compliance withHIPAA policies.
Results
EfficientData Processing
Vytalize significantly improved its ability to managelarge volumes of data, with automated workflows reducing the need for manualprocesses.
Scalability
The serverless architecture ensured that their data systems could grow withtheir expanding patient base and data sources.
ImprovedData Security
Vytalize gained peace of mind with a clear plan for securingPHI and complying with healthcare regulations.
